Our Experience
Since 1990, we have been active in the world of trivia
- On-line Trivia: The games on this site
attract champions from both
Jeopardy and Millionaire, as well as players
from every continent.
- A Profitable E-business: Whether writing custom questions or mining a database of
45,000+ questions, we have written for
Trivial Pursuit, Microsoft, MTV Europe, Prodigy, Eddie Bauer,
Hershey and others. He has provided content for official "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" merchandising
and for the online version of "1v100" on nbc.com.
- Weekly Pub Nights: Since 1998, we have run a
weekly pub night in Ottawa,
which is often standing-room only. Many teams
have played for years.
- Trivia Parties and Teambuilding Events: Paul
has brought his best questions, and even a buzzer system,
to events run by government offices, teachers, lawyers and
others. He has even taken the bilingual show on the road,
to such venues as Chateau Montebello and Strathmere.
- Charity Events: Since 2000, Paul has provided
questions for, and acted as chief judge for, North America's
largest annual
trivia event, which has raised more than $50,000 a
year for
the local children's aid charity. He does this pro bono
and, over the years, he has played a greater role behind
the scenes, handling public relations and other work. We
also offer some tips for winning and
pics.
- Reach for the Top: Paul has been
interested in trivia since he appeared on Reach for the
Top, a high school quiz program, in 1982. In 2000, the
Reach team he coached at Lisgar Collegiate won the
city championship, and in 2002, he judged the Ontario
Reach championship, which was televised on TVO.
- Other Game Show Credentials: He has passed the
Jeopardy qualifying test
four times (and his wife was on the show in 2004). He appeared
on Time Chase, a quiz show that ran on the History
Channel. He is the honorary "vice-president of trivia" for
the Game Show
Congress and in 2004 ran an "exhibition game" called
SmartyPants that pitted
against each other all-stars from Jeopardy,
Millionaire, Twenty-One, Greed and Win Ben Stein's
Money. He has also won the North American leg of the World Quizzing Championship.
- Media Appearances and Interviews: He has been
interviewed about the trivia business by Ron Charles on
CBC National News, as well as by CBC Radio in
Ottawa, by Ben Mulroney on Talk TV's Chat Room and
by
Global National News (TV), as well as by numerous radio
shows across Canada and several of Ottawa's TV media. In
2004, he hosted a three-hour trivia show on CFRA, an
Ottawa radio station. See below for
print coverage. CJOH (Ottawa's
#1 radio station) has also used his content for on-air
trivia contests. In 2006, his pub game was featured in a segment on TVO's Studio 2. He also is mentioned in books by Jeopardy champs Ken Jennings and Bob Harris, who refer to Paul's status as one of North America's pre-eminent quizmasters.
- Prime Minister Paul Martin: We provided trivia
for Paul Martin's campaign Web site when he was running
for party leader. And he became prime minister. Not that
we're taking the credit. We're just saying ...
- Trivia Writing: Paul has contributed to
Uncle John's Bathroom Reader. He wrote a book
trivia column for the Ottawa Citizen and
self-syndicated a column to Ontario weekly newspapers.
- Paul the Player: As part of the dreaded trivia
team known as the
Plush Toy of Darkness, Paul has won more than $1000 in
cash and prizes since 2002 at local trivia events,
including the
2004 Ottawa Irish Trivia League. Paul also plays NTN every Tuesday, usually at either Puzzles or New
Edinburgh Pub in Ottawa. His handle is WLDCAT. (Long
story.)
